Zlatko Dimitrov Velichkov has performed internationally in variety of guises, since finishing his music education at State Academy of Music, Bulgaria.
He was a soloist as a violin and viola player of the State Philharmonic Orchestra, Varna, Bulgaria, The Academy Symphony Orchestra, Sofia , Bulgaria, National Military Symphony Orchestra, Bulgaria, Tunisian National Symphony Orchestra and Cairo Symphony Orchestra and has performed Bartoc’s Viola concerto, Penderecky’s Viola concerto, Telemann’s Viola concerto, Saint-Saens’s Violin concerto, Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote Viola solo part.
Zlatko is a very active chamber musician performing with different chamber groups including London Schubert Players String Quartet, Mici String Quartet, Orama Encemble, International Chamber Collegiums, Cairo. He has also performed with pianist Todor Petrov recitals around Tunisia, including a concert for the International Conference of States members of NATO for Mediterranean region at The State Opera House, Tunis, Tunisia.
Zlatko is also an active orchestra player. He was a principal viola at Cairo Symphony Orchestra, visiting principal viola at Tunisian National Symphony Orchestra, principal viola at London Schubert Players, principal viola at Trinity College Symphony Orchestra, viola rank and file at Sofia Philharmonic, 1st violin rank and file at Varna Philharmonic Orchestra and freelance player (Royal Concert & Pops Orchestra, Oxford Symphony Orchestra-principal viola,
British Chamber Orchestra, British Youth Opera, London Philharmonia). As a Jazz player Zlatko has experience as a bass guitarist and jazz violinist with the Nile River Band, Cairo-performing at Cairo Opera House (1997) and touring around Egypt. Zlatko was recorded with Colt Hurb for Z-omo ”Manhattan-…then zero”. One important part of Zlatko’s musical life is teaching. He was a Assistant Prof. Upper Strings & Chamber Music at Institut Suppereur de Musique de Sousse, Tunisia, Upper String teacher at British International School, Cairo, Violin teacher at Suzuki School, Cairo, Upper Strings teacher at Tees Valley Music Service, Upper Strings teacher at Cocethorpe School, King’s School, Oxford ,Conductor of Youth String Orchestra Red Car & Cleveland. Zlatko is a winner Audience Price-Nirbator’s Music Festival, Hungary, First Price-National music Competition ”Svetoslav Obretenov”, Bulgaria, First Price-National Music Military Competition, Bulgaria. Zlatko completed his degree at State Music School, Varna (Violin), State Music Academy, Bulgaria (Violin & Viola)- BA(Hons)MA(Hons),Trinity College of Music, London ( LTCL) & (PGC). He also attended master classes with Prof. Uta Vince( Dresden Music academy),Prof. Gardfield Jackson (Endelion String Quartet and RMAL),Michael Bochman (Bocman String Quartet and TCML). Zlatko also finished a conducting course with Maestro Peter Stark (TCML and RCML). At the moment Zlatko Velichkov is teaching for the Camden and Ealing Music Service.
