Hi, my name is Kevin Siou, I’m 25, French and I’m actually a student at the British Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) in London. I have been playing the guitar for nearly 10 years now and I teach electric and acoustic guitar since 2016.
I started teaching 2 years ago when I moved in London in order to do my degree in music performance at BIMM. I have been teaching student from 7 to 40 years old and I learned a lot in terms of pedagogy following the age and the level of the student.
Music is the main thing in my life; that’s what I do all the time, studying it at school, practicing it, writing, composing.
I got two bands where I’m songwriting and performing called Zebrah and D’haze, and I have been playing gigs in London with them for a year now.
I am also playing as a session player for a few bands, usually songwriters or singers in need for a guitarist.
I try to be the most versatile guitarist I can be by playing with as many people as possible, in as many styles as possible.
I am also playing bass and drums on the side.
All of this is giving me experience in the music business, in order to be able to make a living out of the music.
I teach beginner and intermediate level and I am proficient in several styles such as the blues, rock, pop, acoustic, folk, funk, hard rock or jazz. I cannot teach advanced level for now, but I’m still studying for that, in order to be a really complete guitar tutor in the next few years. I can also teach theory if the student desire to, but my beginner lessons are not including theory, as it usually scares my students.
I am also a really patient person and I enjoy teaching whatever the level of my student, so don’t worry if you’re a real beginner and you if haven’t even touch a guitar before, I’ll be happy to help!
I believe that anyone can play the guitar so you should give it a try!
