Siân Monaghan is an experienced teacher and session player, drumming for some high profile UK artists signed to Sony, Skeleton Key records and Young & Lost Club. After developing a love for percussion, Siân began with an orchestral background, but soon threw herself into playing many different styles, and was playing big band jazz at the Montreaux Jazz Festival at the age of 17.
Siân also reads music and is the resident drummer with several musical theatre groups in the South. She regularly puts students through drum kit exams (Trinity, Rockschool), saying that “While reading is not compulsory music is a language, and you must read, listen and feel that language in order to communicate it”.
Siân attended the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, founded by Sir Paul McCartney, and has worked across the world with a range of artists, including tours in mainland Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Scandinavia.
“Siân started me off in my music career and I will always remember the valuable lessons that she taught me” – Will, 19
“Siân is such a great teacher, I always look forward to my next lesson. She makes me want to do better and better.” – Nigel, 35
