Polly Hewett is a friendly, fun and very experienced tutor with many years of Singing, Public Speaking, Elocution and Voice work teaching, as well as many years as a singer, performer and composer. Students describe her lessons as ‘the best I’ve ever had!’ Basic techniques to improve breath control, vocal tone, intonation, power and range can be gained very rapidly since Polly has honed many teaching skills over many years. She has the ability to immediately diagnose what needs to be worked on and how to put it into practice. Polly teaches all ages and levels of singing in individual & group lessons and as a choral conductor in West and Central London students can learn pop, soul, R’n’B, musical theatre and jazz styles, benefiting from her huge library of songs.
Polly teaches from the piano, enabling students to practice for auditions. She has got a very high success rate with many students gaining entry to top musical theatre schools and professional Musical theatre. Students of her have gained roles in productions such as ‘Cats’ & ‘Hairspray’ on the West End stage. Polly teaches Grade 5 Music Theory and GCSE, AS and A Level Music and also Music Technology both privately and in schools. For those who lack vocal confidence Polly can help with Public Speaking, Elocution and Voice Work coaching for business people who wish to impress in business meetings, or those who wish to improve the clarity of their speech or for actors who wish to learn a regional accent for an audition.
Polly has a Mmus in Acoustic Composition and a BA in Performance Arts. She plays cello and piano to a high level and has appeared on BBC TV’s ‘Top of the Pops’, on radio and at major concert venues such as The Barbican and The Royal Festival Hall. Her compositions have been broadcast on National TV and Radio. As a pop vocalist Polly has worked with Madonna’s producer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, and appeared in venues all over London. Polly currently performs with jazz duo ‘2blue’ at weddings, restaurants, and functions.
