Manuel Contreras is a guitar player and a qualified, professionally trained (RGT Registered, CRB checked) guitar tutor, originally from Italy, based in North London (Southgate, N14). He has been performing for 20 years, throughout Italy and in the USA, with pop, rock, funk-fusion and jam bands, working also as a composer and writing for one of the most important Italian guitar magazine “Chitarre”, before moving to London in January 2013. For more than 10 years Manuel has been a very patient and a friendly tutor “with an unmistakable laid-back style”, teaching between Europe and the USA (electric, acoustic guitar, band coaching, all styles and levels) privately and in great music schools such as the Washington DC School of Rock, where he worked also as a music director for the summer session. Some of his students are now professional recording artists and award winning musicians.
Manuel had the honor to study and play side by side with some of the finest international musicians (Mark Stanley, Guthrie Govan, Carl Verheyen, Massimo Varini, Simone Sello, Lorenzo Feliciati, Alessandro Benvenuti, Umberto Fiorentino…) and also earned the Professional Diploma in Journalism and Music Criticism from the “Accademia della Critica” (Rome).
Manuel can help all types of students to achieve their personal goals, whether they want to learn just for pure enjoyment or become professionals. His lessons are tailored to each student’s needs using a fun, creative learning approach and a structured method, covering fretboard logic, repertoire, aural, technique, styles etc. Manuel’s goal is to unleash the musical side in his students, open up their consciousness to a new exciting horizon and teach them the quality tools for continuing playing by themselves.
