Li You is a pianist/composer/music director. She moved to London, UK in 2001 studying piano with Jill Crossland and jazz piano with Eddie Harvey at the London College of Music & Media. She achieved a Bachelor Degree in music performance and gained a second class first division in 2004.
In July, 2002, she was chosen from hundreds of young musicians to compete at the Tunbridge Wells International Competition for young artists. In June 2003, she was highly recommended by Holmes Piano Prize in London College of Music. In summer, 2003, she was a semi finalist at the London International Music Competition. In summer, 2004, Li You has won the Beethoven Piano Prize in London College of Music and being invited performing as part of the Inter-collegiate Beethoven Competition at the Austrian Cultural Institute in December. From year 2004 and 2006, she studied with Murray Mclachlan at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and did many concerts around UK such as Didsbury, Newcastle, Harrogate, London, as well as at the RNCM. During her studies at the RNCM, she also entered Marlow Concerto Competition and gained a ‘Merit’ for her performance of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat Major.
After she graduated from Royal Northern College of Music, she got a job at Bermuda School of Music as a piano tutor also teaching music theory and preparing students for ABRSM, RCM and various auditions. She also wrote music scores for Bermuda films and got future engagements with them. In 2009, she moved back to London and finished her Masters in Music from Kingston University, during her study, she has performed at Rose Theatre, Royal Festival Hall and other venues. Currently, she is a music director for Avalon Theatre Company and Diocese of Westminster. Most recently Li You played a concert with St Bart’s Orchestra performing Mozart’s D minor Piano Concerto at St. George’s Cathedral, Southwark.
