Hannah Turnbull was born in Surrey and began playing the Double Bass age fifteen, where she was an active member of many different ensembles including the local county concert band, big band and youth orchestras.
In 2009 Hannah was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music where she completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Music degree and postgraduate Master of Arts degree.
Having completed her studies, Hannah was a recent member of Southbank Sinfonia 2015 and is now enjoying a career in the UK and Europe as a freelance orchestral musician on modern and historical double bass.
Hannah’s teaching experience includes private tuition and previously she was the double bass tutor for various youth string ensembles. Whilst a member of Southbank Sinfonia, Hannah took part in many education projects including side by side mentoring with young musicians.
