A native of Trieste, Italy, Fabio Poian is a versatile drummer and producer who has been part of many musical projects in which he has played in a variety of styles. He has had the opportunity to play everything from Metal to Jazz and Gospel to Pop in ensembles as small as a Funk trio and as big as a 50 piece brass band.
Some of the most renowned artist he has played with include Arturo Sandoval, Andrae Crouch, Melissa Manchester and Clint Holmes to name a few.
On November 29th 2007 Fabio won the Under18 – Groove section national final of the Italian “Drummer of Tomorrow” contest which was organised by Mapex in Bologna, and hosted by Dom Famularo.
In October 2009, Fabio moved to the United States to pursue his career and to study music performance at the Los Angeles Music Academy (now LA College of Music) under the guidance of world class drummers such as Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Tony Inzalaco, Gary Ferguson, Richie Gajate Garcia, Aaron Serfaty, Dave Beyer and Michael Packer.
After a successful five years living and working in the US, Fabio went on to play on numerous cruise ships including 6 star liners, both as sideman and Musical Director, where the band played a large variety of music from party sets and jazz events to shows in the theatre for the on-board cast or guest entertainers.
In 2017 he then relocated to London to continue his career in one of the most important music hubs in the world. He has been busy recording and performing with a variety of projects and lineups around town.
Fabio is also very keen in music production which he studied at Garnish School of Sound in London, and runs his own studio in East London. He is at home in both Ableton Live and Logic Pro X, which he uses to record music or perform on stage.
Aside from the time he spends on stage or in the studio, Fabio loves to pass on his vast musical knowledge by teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. Whether they are interested in learning how to play rock drums, sight reading Big Band music or producing hip hop beats and replicating them on a hybrid drumset, Fabio loves helping his students find their paths in music and their unique voices on the instrument.
